Welcome to the Senior Box Program (CSFP)
At Feed My Lambs, we are honored to participate in the North Carolina Commodity Supplemental Food Program. This program is part of a national effort supported by the USDA to provide nutritious food to seniors in need.
Every month, qualified participants age sixty and older receive a food package at no cost. These boxes are filled with healthy, shelf-stable groceries designed to supplement daily meals. A typical box includes canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, pasta or rice, juice, protein options such as peanut butter or canned meat, and cheese.
The Senior Box Program provides more than food. It provides peace of mind, stretches limited budgets, and helps our community’s seniors remain strong, independent, and nourished.
Who is Eligible
The Senior Box Program is available to older adults who meet the following requirements:
• You must be at least sixty years old
• You must live in North Carolina
• Your household income must meet program guidelines. For example, a single-person household may qualify if the monthly income is around $1,957 or less, and a two-person household may qualify if the monthly income is around $2,644 or less.
What Comes in the Box
Each participant receives one food package per month. The contents may vary, but a typical box includes:
• Canned fruits and vegetables
• Pasta, rice, or cereal
• Shelf-stable milk and juice
• Peanut butter or dried beans
• Canned meats or tuna
• A package of cheese
These foods are chosen to add essential vitamins, minerals, and protein to a senior’s diet.
How to Apply or Pick Up
To apply for the program, please bring proof of age and proof of income when you visit Feed My Lambs. Our staff and volunteers will help you with the application process. Once enrolled, you or a designated proxy may pick up your monthly food box at our location.
Pick up is available on the third Tuesday and Thursday of each month during regular pantry hours. If you cannot come in person, you may authorize someone you trust to pick up your box for you.
Why This Program Matters
The Senior Box Program helps older adults stretch their food budgets, maintain better nutrition, and enjoy greater independence. It is more than a box of groceries. It is a sign that our community values and cares for its seniors.
